Orpheus Mac OS
Orpheus Mac OS
- Orpheus provides Prism Sound's renowned performance, sound quality and state-of-the-art clock technology in a dedicated FireWire unit compatible with both Windows (XP, Vista (32 and 64bit) & Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit), ASIO & WDM) as well as MAC OS X 10.4.11 and later (Intel & PPC).
- Its mixer can be configured from a host Mac or PC to provide mono and stereo mixes, as well as to monitor inputs. Outputs can also be configured for 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound. Orpheus includes ASIO and WDM drivers for Windows XP or Vista; for Mac OS X 10.4 or later, Orpheus interfaces directly with Core Audio.
Orpheus is easy to connect to your computer and to your outboard gear. For Windows XP, Vista or 7 users ASIO and WDM drivers are provided, while for Mac OS X. The Orpheus also provides MIDI in and out, of course, and word clock in and out. Drivers and control software are provided for both Windows (XP and Vista, with ASIO & WDM formats), and Mac OS 10.4 or later (for both Intel and PPC machines). Orpheus suggests using Exact Audio Copy (EAC) on Windows or Linux (with Wine), and XLD on Mac OS. Both EAC and XLD produce high quality rips with sufficient logs to prove that the files are up to standard.
Mac Os Catalina
Prism Sound in Cambridge, UK, announces that after extensive testing on the latest Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 operating system, the Sonnet Thunderbolt Adapter will allow Prism Sound FireWire interface users to maintain the same software control and functionality they currently receive through the FireWire 800 and 400 connection. Any Apple Mac with the new Thunderbolt connection (currently the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Mini) will be able to connect to Prism Sound’s Orpheus and FireWire ADA-8XR, including the latest Mac Book Air laptops, which previously lacked any connection above USB 2 speed.
Orpheus Mac Os Update
The recent addition of the new Thunderbolt I/O connection to Apple Mac computers means data can be transferred faster than ever—10 Gbps of bidirectional throughput plus a separate display bus.
Lightning-fast speed and huge bandwidth has meant Thunderbolt can accommodate nearly any existing connection to a variety of external devices with the necessary adapter, including Prism Sound FireWire audio interfaces Orpheus and ADA-8XR.
MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Mini users will benefit from an extra bus through the Thunderbolt connection, meaning that external hard drives and other FireWire devices can be used simultaneously with the Prism Sound Orpheus and ADA-8XR FireWire interfaces.
